SALARY:       $55,000 -$88,032 plus a competitive benefits package

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
ATTORNEY II:  Graduation from an accredited law school, admission to the State Bar of Arizona and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant legal experience.  Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license if position duties require.
 
ATTORNEY III: Graduation from an accredited law school; admission to the State Bar of Arizo­na; four (4) years of relevant legal experience.  Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license if position duties require.
 
PREFERENCE: may be given to candidates with criminal law and courtroom experience. 
 
UNDERFILL INFORMATION: A candidate who has less than four years of relevant legal experience may be considered to Underfill for the Attorney III position at a commensurately reduced salary, provided that candidate will meet the required four years of experience within one year of hire.
 
TYPICAL DUTIES:
ATTORNEY II: (Illustrative Only) Initiates, engages, and defends litigation; performs legal research; reviews and prepares legal documents; supervises junior staff; handles appeals; ren­ders legal advice to clients; performs factual investigations.
 
ATTORNEY III: (Illustrative Only) Supervises and reviews work of staff attorneys; performs organization and administrative duties; initiates, en­gages, and defends litigation; performs legal research; reviews and prepares legal documents; handles appeals; renders legal advice to clients; performs factual investigations.
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
ATTORNEY II
Considerable knowledge of:
  • principles and practices of law;
  • legal procedures and administrative proceedings;
  • methods and practices of pleadings;
  • judicial procedures and the rules of evidence;
  • principles, methods, materials, practices and references uti­lized in legal research.
     
Considerable skill in:
  • applying legal knowledge and training on behalf of public enti­ties.
     
Good skill in:
  • analyzing, appraising, and organizing facts, evidence, and precedents;
  • rendering logical, clear and effective written reports and oral arguments;
  • determining alternative courses of action;
  • presenting and arguing cases in court and handle unanticipated problems smoothly.
     
Ability to:
  • establish and maintain effective working relationships with em­ployees, other agencies, and the public;
  • follow written and verbal instruction;
  • communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

ATTORNEY III

Thorough knowledge of:
  • principles and practices of law;
  • legal procedures and administrative proceedings;
  • methods and practices of pleadings;
  • judicial procedures and the rules of evidence;
  • principles, methods, materials, practices and references utilized in legal research.
     
Considerable knowledge of:
  • principles and practices of management and supervision.
     
Considerable skill in:
  • applying legal knowledge and training;
  • determining alternative courses of action;
  • analyzing, appraising, and organizing facts, evidence and precedents;
  • rendering logical, clear and effective written reports and oral arguments;
  • presenting and arguing cases in court and handle unanticipated problems smoothly.
