Sierra Vista United Methodist Church

About Us

Sierra Vista United Methodist Church (SVUMC) began in 1968. Fifty-six people came together with a shared commitment to Christ and created a new congregation. At first, the group met wherever they could. The first church building was established on Fry Boulevard in 1970. In 1984, members pushed for a new church campus. Our current site was found, and the sale of the previous building yielded enough money to construct a new Worship Center, Fellowship Hall, and Education building. The new campus was dedicated in 1987. In 2007, SVUMC added the Activity Center, which features a basketball court, commercial kitchen, and meeting room. It is a popular space for major events of the church and the community.

On Sundays, we offer three morning worship services and Sunday school for children and adults. We host a Wednesday evening Vesper service with communion. The Education building houses Village Christian Preschool. Church organizations include The Fishermen, Sonrisers, Happy Achers and United Methodist Women, who offer six different subgroups. Highly-qualified musicians direct our chancel choir, youth choir, two children's choirs, and bell choir. SVUMC also sponsors local scouting programs.

SVUMC encourages Christian ministry through community involvement. We host an award-winning tutoring program and ESL classes. We also participate in Good Neighbor Alliance, community food bank, Habitat for Humanity, prison ministry, and other outreach activities. With God's help, SVUMC strives to be a caring, responsive church for all.
